Natasha Williams has been working on an A-Level in Film Studies at Rochdale Sixth Form College for the past two years, along with Drama and Computer Science – all subjects that she hopes will support her future ambitions of working in the film industry. During her time at the Sixth Form she has written, shot, sound designed and edited two short films of her own: “Red Paint” (2019) and “Womb” (2020). In conjunction with her Drama course she has also performed in various plays and wrote a 25-minute play for the Devised Drama module.

Additionally, outside of her studies Natasha worked as assistant director on the trailer for a film adaptation of a popular YA novel.

Over the past few years she has also regularly been involved with the Manchester fringe theatre production, “JB Shorts,” including acting as assistant to the director of the 2017 play “Pot Plant.”

Natasha enjoys studying alternative genres and methods of creating film: she has a particular interest in those of independent filmmakers local to her who use a variety of unorthodox approaches to filmmaking with analogue film. These are techniques she has taken inspiration from in her own work.

Natasha has been a volunteer at Rochdale Soup Kitchen since 2014 and wishes to continue working with the homeless when studying at the University of Leeds from September 2020. She hopes that the Film, Photography and Media course will allow her to hone her filmmaking skills and determine the sector of film production she would most like to continue into the future and hopefully begin a career in.

She plans to travel the world to study different countries’ film industries and the varying styles of filmmaking that are not as widely represented in western media. In doing this she hopes to broaden her own approach to the industry and her understanding of different cultures through film.
